The Lion King 2019 – CGI re-imagined
The Lion King 2019 is a CGI re-imagining of the 1994 Disney classic. The Lion King is an upcoming American animated musical fantasy adventure film directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a photo-realistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s traditionally animated 1994 film of the same name. Jon Favreau is followed by his recent successes with live action remakes of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.
The new CGI re-imagined adaptation of The Lion King, voiced by Donald Glover and Beyoncé, is set for release on 19 July 2019. The release date will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the original 1994 animated film.

The first official trailer for the film was released on 22 November 2018 on Disney’s YouTube channel. It quickly became the second most-watched trailer in a 24-hour period, racking up 224.6 million views globally.
Donald Glover as Simba, the crown prince of the Pride Lands. JD McCrary as young Simba Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Simba's childhood best friend and future love-interest. Shahadi Wright Joseph as young Nala James Earl Jones as Mufasa, the king of the Pride Lands and the father of Simba. Jones reprises his role from the original 1994 animated film. Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, the treacherous brother of Mufasa and the uncle of Simba who seeks to take the mantle of king. Billy Eichner as Timon, a wise-cracking and loyal meerkat who befriends and adopts a young Simba after he runs away from home. Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, a naive common warthog who befriends and adopts a young Simba after he runs away from home. John Oliver as Zazu, a hornbill who is the advisor to the King of the Pride Lands. John Kani as Rafiki, a wise mandrill who serves as the shaman of the Pride Lands and a close friend of Mufasa's. Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, the lead hyena of the trio, Scar's henchmen. Eric Andre as Azizi, a member of Scar's trio. This character replaces Banzai from the original 1994 animated film Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, an unhinged hysterical hyena who laughs a lot and is part of Scar's henchmen. This character replaces Ed from the original 1994 animated film. Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, Mufasa's mate, the mother of Simba, and queen of the Pride Lands. Amy Sedaris as an elephant shrew.
Having worked on the original, Hans Zimmer is back to score the new version of the movie, while Elton John has also confirmed he’s reworking his classic songs, as well as potentially working on new ones.
The Lion King is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2019, which marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film. The Lion King will be one of the first theatrical films to be released on Disney+ alongside Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 and Captain Marvel.
