Much hyped foldable smartphone from Samsung is now unveiled. It is named the Samsung Galaxy Fold which was unpacked at an event in San Francisco. It is the first ever foldable smartphone from the South Korean tech giant. The new smartphone combines two screens in one device – one main flexible display of 7.3-inch and the other secondary screen of 4.6-inch.

This foldable smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Fold, is powered by the new 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, and to handle all of the multitasking features, there is 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage which is using the fast UFS 3.0 standard. There are also two batteries on the inside combining to offer a total of 4,380mAh. Samsung Galaxy Fold is powered by an octa-core processor. The smartphone includes Samsung’s Infinity Flex display.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with Android 9.0 with a custom UI. It has an unique feature called App Continuity with which you can seamlessly transition from the cover screen to the main screen for supported apps. The large screen also enables multi-tasking – three apps can run side by side on the Galaxy Fold. Other features include Bixby support, Samsung Pay support, and Samsung Health feature.

As for the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has a total of 6 cameras. A single 10MP front camera on the cover display and a dual front camera set up on the main display (10MP + 8MP). On the rear, it has a triple camera setup, 12MP + 12MP telephoto + 16MP ultra-wide angle with dual pixel autofocus, dual Optical image stabilization, and dual aperture.

A compact smartphone when closed and a more expansive tablet when fully opened, Samasung Galaxy Fold’s Apps has a seamless transition between the display sizes, letting you pick up on the tablet where you left off on the smartphone. When the device is unfolded, you can use three active apps through something Samsung calls Multi Active Window.

However, the Samsung Galaxy Fold does not have a microSD slot but will be offered in LTE and 5G versions and it is a finished product. The company will be selling the Galaxy Fold at a starting price of $1980 (Rs 1,42,000 approx). The phone will be offered in four colours, Green, Blue, Silver and Black.
