With a surprise upgrade, Apple’s AirPods 2 are rumored to be launched within the first-half of 2019. Speculations are in the air that it will don the looks of the previously released AirPods design with a new look being held until 2020. Moreover, it is also rumored that the earbuds will be redesigned to support health monitoring functions. There are also rumors that AirPods 2 might also be upgraded with a wireless case and perhaps an improved processor to allow hands-free Siri activation.
DigiTimes in their recent article on Wearables to drive rigid-flex PCB market growth in 2019, mentioned that:
In terms of wireless headsets, Apple is set to release AirPods 2 sometime in the first half of 2019, and the new wireless earbuds with discrete designs to carry health monitoring functions are expected to receive enthusiastic market responses. Other brand vendors have all planned to launch wireless headsets in the year, with market competition seen to heat up soon.
With an interest for better health, Apple has been designing and moulding its gadgets with helth monitoring features, so it would not be too surprising to see a similar feature in the upcoming AirPods 2. Apart from the above quote, DigiTimes doesn’t mention any other details about the upcoming earbuds, but does say they’re expected to receive “enthusiastic” market responses.
